Fifth-placed Geelong almost caused an upset when they stormed home in the last quarter of this game, booting 7.5 to 1.1 by the Blues. But it wasn't quite enough, and Carlton held on to win by one straight kick. Soapy Vallence starred again for the Blues, with 6 majors.
