Boys wore a variety of guernseys in his time at Carlton, despite managing 15 games commencing in Season 1943. The 188cm Blue kicked 3 goals.

In the season of 1947 Ron was adjudged third in the Gardiner medal, the best and fairest award for the VFL reserves competition.

Originally from Northcote, Boys was used in defence, and went on to play 26 games at Hawthorn and boot 2 goals in the two years he spent with the Hawks from 1948 to 1949.

Boys passed away on the 20th October, 1990 aged 66.
