Game Review

After setting numerous records with the 88 point thumping of Collingwood the previous week, Carlton started on fire in this game. The Blues, kicking with the wind, scored 7 goals to nil in the first quarter. Unfortunately Geelong also made great use of the breeze in the second term, kicking 8 goals to 1 to lead at half-time.

After a tight third quarter, Carlton harrased Geelong the whole of the final quarter, and this pressure forced Geelong to kick 6 behinds in a row. The Blues couldn't capitalise, though, and Geelong goaled through Jack Collins to score a 6 point victory. Geelong would defeat Richmond the following Saturday to take the 1931 flag.

Harry Vallence finished on top of the VFL goal kicking ladder with 86 goals.
