Leigh Snooks was recruited from Derrinallum, which is located between Mortlake and Lismore in the Western Districts of Victoria. Snooks was taken in the 1991 National Draft, he was selected at pick 54, this was Carlton's fourth pick of the draft.

Snooks would later play in the Mornington Peninisula League side Rosebud, he played in two premierships during his stint there, he played as a physical key forward for the 'Buds' who ironically wore Carlton jumpers.

He did not manage a senior game for Carlton.
