1885 Eadie recruited from Sunbury.

Eadie was named in the Carlton squad of 23 to play Star of Carlton on Princes Oval in a pre season match.
John Eadie's name does not appear in any other Carlton teams this year and most likely played in the Second Twenty.

Eadie spent his youth in Sunbury where he was a contractor building many notable buildings including the Mechanics Institute, Presbyterian Church, and State School.
He later went to Jumbunna and established a saw mill and was elected to the Shire council. Eadie moved to Melbourne and tendered for the Public Works Department completing Post Offices, Railway Stations, and State Schools in Hawthorn, Carnegie, Clayton, Murchison and was completing the Agricultural High School at Sale when he died aged 56.
John Eadie played football with both Melbourne and Carlton, and cricket for the M.C.C. He also played bowls with the Richmond Bowling Club.
His youngest son Allan was killed in WW1.
