The unusually-named Hope Evans joined the Blues in 1925 from Albury. It was a time of expansion for the Victorian Football League, with newcomers North Melbourne, Footscray and Hawthorn rounding out a twelve-team competition.

Wearing guernsey number 17, Evans played 7 games for Carlton in his only season, as the Blues struggled at the foot of the ladder for most of the year. Thanks to a couple of good wins late in the season, we avoided the dreaded wooden spoon and finished ninth.
