Carlton Granddads

Outside of the realms of Father-Sons, Carlton also has a Grandfather-Grandson story that are worth noting:

Note: This page originally had Paddy O'Brien and Mick Martyn listed but we have since confirmed that Mick's mother, Mary, was a daughter of Paddy's brother (not Paddy).

Beyond the Carlton-only legs, there are other famous Grandfather stories relating to Carlton worth mentioning here:

  • Marc Murphy: in Round 21 of 2010, Carlton took on Geelong and Marc Murphy played his 100th game. Murphy in this game allowed the trilogy of his grandfather, Leo Murphy, who played 132 games with Hawthorn, and John Murphy who played 278 games with 3 Clubs, becoming the first grandad-father-son in history to all play 100 games.
  • Scott Howell: Scott joined his father and grandfather in playing VFL / AFL football.
