The Blues controlled this game against Geelong at Princes Park after quarter time, running out 18-point winners and consolidating second place on the ladder.

"Great form displayed by Carlton in the last quarter rattled Geelong. C. Martyn the Carlton centre, initiated attack after attack, Clover, veteran centre half-forward, carried on the attack with great marks and 60 yard kicks. Twice he goaled, and Carlton took the lead, never to look back, and won by 18 points 10.13 to 8.7.

Best Players

For Carlton, the youthful giant, Davey bought down some phenomenal marks, and was a power in the ruck. For two years Carlton has "carried" Davey as a potential champion. This season their hopes have been realised. Clover the veteran, was a doubtful starter owing to an attack of gastritis, which caused him to miss the South Melbourne match. Though in his tenth year of League football, he marked and kicked like the champion he is. For once, Hickey, the Geelong centre half-back, met his match.
C. Martyn was a dashing centre, with clever pick-ups, and telling drop kicks. He beat Greeves on the day. Crowe (forward), Gilby (half-back), Kelleher (ruck), and Dunn (half-forward) were the best of the others." (The Referee May 29)

At the end of this round Carlton were in 2nd spot on the ladder with a percentage of 133.6.
