Game Review

Graham Gilchrist (cork leg) was replaced in the selected side by John Nicholls.
Richmond were the chopping block of the competition at this time, and Carlton recovered some confidence with this 9-goal victory at Punt Road.

Carlton won handsomely against Richmond. They were possibly unlucky the previous week against Melbourne, and had they won that important game would now be right in the running for fourth place. The Blues played with a ton of confidence, always looked to have the match well in hand, and had the best win of the afternoon. They may have left their run a little late, but they'll give their supporters many thrills before the season concludes. - Football Record.

Big win for Blues
Carlton's winning margin of 54 points last week was their best against the Tigers since 1947, when they won by 73 points. That's the only occasion in the past 30 years that Carlton have defeated Richmond by a bigger margin. John James is back to his best. He was brilliant against Richmond. Leo Brereton continues to rove stylishly, John Heathcote also added bite to the roving, and Graham Donaldson was the dominating force in the ruck. Other good ones for Carlton were Serge Silvagni and Barry Bryant. - Football Record.
