David Pitt played reserve grade football for Carlton in 1998. Pitt later made his name in the VFL with Spingvale who was described as a clever right-footer whose mobility and marking stretches the best defenders. He represented the VFL in 2001 and was listed in the 2002 representative squad.

Pitt was originally recruited from Warragul via TAC Cup team the Gippsland Power.

He didn't play a senior game for Carlton.
