Charles H. Myers

Career: 1886 - 1888

Born in Tasmania and apprenticed to the newspaper the Hobart Mercury, Charles came to Victoria in 1885 and worked as a compositor for 48 years with The Argus until November 1930 when ill-health forced his retirement.
In his younger days he was a keen sportsman, he played football for Carlton, was a member of the Yarra Yarra Rowing Club, a cricketer and a baseballer. He was a long time coach of the Carlton Baseball Club.
He passed away at home aged 68 years after a long illness, and was buried at the Melbourne General Cemetery, Carlton.

1886 July 17
Myers was named as one of Carlton's better players for the Reserves/Second Twenty in their match against Essendon at the East Melbourne C. G.

1888 May 18
Meyers/Myers was named in the 25 man Carlton Reserves team squad to play Lincoln on Princes Oval.
