Alec James played reserve grade football for Carlton from 1952 to 1953.

James who was described as a half back-flanker whose orignal club was Seymour Football Club. He sought a clearance to VFA club Preston in June 1954 but this was refused by the VFL.

He didn't manage to play a senior game for Carlton.
